π Is It A Fruit Or A Vegetable?
Late September, and she's still producing.
By this point in the season, most tomato plants are hanging on by a thread β half their foliage brown and crispy, branches tangled and stressed. But somehow, buried in all that late-season chaos, this beauty is sitting plump, deeply red, and perfectly ripe. This looks like a beefsteak-style tomato, and it's clearly been a productive plant. The garden at Stage Stop doesn't quit just because summer does. There's something almost defiant about a ripe tomato in late September β a final act of generosity from a plant that's given everything it had. Grab it, slice it thick, hit it with salt and a drizzle of olive oil. That's a campsite dinner and the question to ask during dinner isβ¦is it a fruit or a vegetable?
