RV Camping Checklist: Everything You Actually Need

There are RV camping checklists on the internet that run to 200 items. This is not that list. This is the list of things that actually matter — the stuff you'll miss if it's not there and won't think about if it is.

Hookup Essentials

  • 30 amp and 50 amp power adapters (both directions)
  • 25-foot and 50-foot electrical extension cord
  • Surge protector
  • Drinking water hose (dedicated, not a garden hose)
  • Water pressure regulator
  • Water filter
  • Sewer hose with fittings
  • Sewer hose support
  • Teflon tape

Leveling and Setup

  • Leveling blocks
  • Wheel chocks
  • Tongue jack pad
  • Level (or leveling app)

Tools

  • Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, adjustable wrench)
  • Multimeter
  • Duct tape and electrical tape
  • WD-40
  • Spare fuses for your rig

Comfort and Convenience

  • Outdoor mat or rug
  • Outdoor chairs and a table
  • Awning lights

  • Propane for the grill

  • Flashlights and extra batteries
  • Roadside emergency kit

  • Vehicle registration and insurance
  • Campground reservations and confirmation numbers
  • Emergency contact list
  • RV warranty and manual

The Things People Always Forget
