πΈThe Dark Beauty At Stage Stop Campground
We pulled into Stage Stop Campground and the first thing that caught our eye wasn't the welcome sign β it was this stunning dark-leaved crape myrtle standing guard at the entrance. The near-black burgundy foliage contrasted against those soft blush-pink blooms is genuinely one of the most striking plant combinations nature has to offer. This variety β likely a "Black Diamond" crape myrtle β thrives in Missouri summers and rewards you with color from midsummer well into fall. If you're arriving in late September like we did, you'll catch the tail end of bloom season, which honestly might be the best time. The gravel bed keeps it clean, the blue sky frames it perfectly, and it sets the tone for the whole property. First impressions? Nailed it.
