๐บThe Last Zinnia Standing
One Bold red zinnia refusing to let summer go.
Everything around it has dried out. The stems are brittle, the seed heads are brown, and the season is clearly winding down. But this zinnia? Full, saturated, fire-engine red, blooming like it's July. Zinnias are the workhorses of the summer flower garden โ they bloom from seed to frost, they attract every pollinator in the county, and they age gracefully into seed heads you can collect and replant next year. This particular flower looks like a giant variety, possibly from the "Benary's Giant" line, and it is perfect. Photographed at Stage Stop's garden beds with the late-season light hitting just right, it's a reminder that beauty doesn't quit on schedule. Neither does this campground.
