🍉Watermelon in the Wild
You don't expect to find one this size hiding in the vines.
Someone parted the leaves and there it was — a full-size, striped, beautiful watermelon sitting quietly in the bed like it had been there all summer (because it had). The dusty yellow belly spot where it rested on the ground, the dried tendril nearby, the deep green stripes — this melon is ripe and ready. Growing watermelons takes space, heat, and patience, and Stage Stop delivered on all three. There's a specific joy to harvesting a watermelon — the thump test, the anticipation of the cut, the smell of it opening up on a warm afternoon. If you're lucky enough to be a guest here during harvest season, you might just find a slice waiting at the welcome table. That's the kind of campground this is.
